ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 22 Virginia women’s golf team turned in the day’s best round to move up the leaderboard for a fourth-place finish at the 17-team Liz Murphey Collegiate in Athens, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 1-over 289 on Saturday and finished the two-day tournament at 18-over 882. Auburn won the team title at 1-over 865.

UVA’s top finisher was freshman Jaclyn LaHa, who placed seventh at 1-over 217 including a final round score of 2-under 70. It was LaHa’s best finish as a Cavalier and her second top-10 outing this season. Her round featured three birdies over her final six holes.

“I took a lot of confidence from my preparations during practice last week and that helped me feel confident with my game, especially with my putting,” LaHa said. “I’m proud of how my team finished on the last day. We made a lot of birdies and should have the confidence going into post season that we have the ability to go low.”

Rebecca Skoler was 21st overall at 5-over 221. She posted a final-round score of 74. Amanda Sambach also shot 70 on Saturday and jumped up to 24th place at 6-over 222. Megan Propeck also finished 24th following a score of 75. Maline Kraus rounded out UVA’s team scoring in 77th place at 238.

Celeste Valinho, competing as an individual, was 21st at 221. She had a final-round score of 73.

Virginia wraps up its regular season April 8-9 at NC State’s Wolfpack Match Play event. Sambach heads to Augusta, Ga., for her fourth appearance at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur on April 3-4.
