RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 23 Virginia women’s golf split a pair of matches Monday at NC State’s Wolfpack Match Play event. The second-seeded Cavaliers defeated Coastal Carolina 4-1-0 but lost to North Carolina 3-2 in the championship bracket semifinals.

Against the Chanticleers, Megan Propeck (7&6), Celeste Valinho (2&1), Jennifer Cleary (1UP) and Rebecca Skoler (1UP) led UVA to the win.

Valinho (3&2) and Jaclyn LaHa (4&2) picked up the Cavaliers two wins in the loss to the Tar Heels.

UVA is playing without Amanda Sambach who competed late last week at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Virginia will face top-seeded Wake Forest on Tuesday during its final match for third place. Play is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. with live scoring online at Golfstat.com.

The Wolfpack Match Play is Virginia’s final tournament of the regular season.
