CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – All-American Ben James posted a final round score of 4-under 67 to tie for third as the No. 12 Virginia men’s golf team finished sixth at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial at Birdwood Golf Course. UVA shot 1-over 285 during Tuesday’s final round for a 54-hole total of 5-over 857.

Tennessee ran away with the team title, shooting 27-under 825 including a final round score of 4-under 280. Florida State was the runner-up at 15-under. The Seminoles had the day’s best score shooting 9-under 275. FSU’s Luke Clanton took medalist honors at 15-under 198.

James shot 7-under 206 and his finish was his fifth top-10 performance this season and the 16th of his two-year UVA career. Deven Patel was Virginia’s second-best finisher, placing 22nd at 2-over 215 including a final round of 1-over 72.

First-year Josh Duangmanee was 27th at 216 after shooting 3-over 216. Bryan Lee placed 59th overall at 223 and Paul Chang was 66th at 226. Lee posted a final-round score while Lee shot 76.

The Cavalier B-Team had an outstanding performance, placing seventh overall in the 14-team field. That group shot 1-under 283 on Tuesday and completed the tournament at 10-over 862.

Liam Powderly’s career-best 67 led the B-team during the final round. He tied for 10th place at 2-under 211. That was his best collegiate finish and best tournament score during his Cavalier career.

Chris Fosdick also shot under-par during the final round for the B-squad. He carded a score of 70 and finished 32nd at 4-ovrer 217. George Duangmanee and Grayson Wotnosky tied for 39th at 219. Duangmanee shot 71 while Wotnosky posted a final-round score of 75. Henry Daly rounded out the B-team’s scoring with a round of 78 the placed him 66th at 226. Benny Haggin, competing as an individual, was 72nd at 229. He shot 73 during the final round.

UVA’s next tournament is the ACC Championships set for April 19-22 at the Charlotte Country Club in Charlotte, N.C.
