UVA Announces Non-Conference Games with NC State and VMI
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia has added a home-and-home football non-conference series with ACC rival NC State and two home games with VMI to its future schedules.
The Cavaliers-Wolfpack games are non-conference contests and will not count in the ACC standings during those respective seasons. The first game is scheduled for Sept. 6, 2025, in Raleigh. The game at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville will take place at a date to be determined in 2026.
UVA and NC State have met 60 times since the inaugural contest between the teams in 1904. The last 50 games in the series (since 1958) have been part of the ACC schedule.
When the ACC divided into two divisions for regular-season play from 2005 to 2022, the Cavaliers and Wolfpack only faced each other seven times. Under the ACC’s new scheduling format – that was amended in 2023 to include incoming schools California, SMU and Stanford – the two long-time rivals were not set to face off again until 2027.
UVA will host VMI in a pair of games to be played at Scott Stadium. The Keydets and Cavaliers will meet on Nov. 23 in 2030 and Nov. 20 in 2032. The series between the two Commonwealth teams dates back to 1893. UVA leads the series 57-23-3. The last time the two teams faced off was in 2013. The two programs met every year from 1919 to 1970.
All four games are slated to be played on Saturdays.
Virginia’s non-conference schedule for 2026 is now complete. In 2026, the Cavaliers’ non-conference slate includes home games with Delaware (Sept. 26), Norfolk State (Nov. 21) and NC State (TBD) and a road game at Notre Dame (Oct. 17).
