Three Cavaliers Competing at Junior Pan Ams
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Virginia field hockey student-athletes Jans Croon, Daniela Mendez-Trendler and Mia Abello have been named to the U.S. U 21 team that will be competing at the 2024 Junior Pan American Championships, being held July 3-12, 2024, in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
Following three selection camps earlier this spring and evaluation at a training camp held in Charlotte, N.C., U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team Head Coach Allan Law has named the 18-athlete roster.
“I am pleased to announce the 2024 Junior Pan American Championship roster,” commented Law. “The selection process was challenging, as all 28 athletes trained diligently and embraced our values and high-performance mentality.”
The JPAC is a qualifier for the 2025 FIH Hockey Junior World Cup (JWC).
All three Cavaliers were members of the gold-medal winning team at the 2023 Pan American Championships in Saint Michael, Barbados, and represented the United States at the 2023 FIH Hockey Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile, last December.
Eight athletes who represented USA in both last year’s edition of JPAC and at the 2024 Junior World Cup were renamed to this squad. The squad will be an almost even split between experienced members and those who will be making their first JPAC appearance.
