CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced Thursday (May 23) its three All-American teams for the 2024 season consisting of 48 student-athletes. Three Cavaliers were tabbed All-Americans including Morgan Schwab (second team), Maggie Bostain (third team) and Mackenzie Hoeg (third team).

Schwab was named a second team All-American for the first time in her career after receiving an honorable mention nod in 2023. In 2024 the attacker led her team with a single-season career-high of 81 points (20 g, 61a). Schwab set a UVA record for assists in a single game with eight against Richmond (March 6). She eclipsed the UVA career assists record with her 130th against No. 4 Notre Dame (March 9), at the conclusion of the campaign Schwab set the record at 159.

Bostain earns her first All-American honors from the IWLCA after leading the UVA defense with 30 caused turnovers and 35 ground balls in 2024, setting single-season career-highs in each. Bostain played an impactful in the middle third of the field recording the third-most draw controls on the team with her total of 40. The defender had a knack for turning up in the clutch for the Cavaliers as one of her season highlights featured a caused turnover in the dying seconds of a game against No. 3 Boston College which would give Virginia the chance it needed to tie and eventually win the game in overtime.

Hoeg was named a third team All-American by the IWLCA for the second consecutive season after recording the best statistical season of her career with 53 points (49g, 4a). As a two-way midfielder, Hoeg was one of Virginia’s most consistent offensive threats scoring in every game of the season while recording multiple goals in all but three games. On the defensive end, Hoeg caused a total of 14 turnovers and scooped up 24 ground balls.
