Natasha Subhash Repeats as Academic All-American
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior Natasha Subhash has been named to the 2024 Academic All-America Women’s Tennis Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday (June 4). The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Subhash was one of 20 student-athletes named an Academic All-American in women’s tennis for 2023-24, voted the third team.
This is Subhash’s third CoSIDA Academic All-America honor. She is the only player in UVA women’s tennis history ever to earn the accolade. She is the only three-time recipient in this year’s honorees.
Subhash ended her Cavalier career as one of the most-lauded student-athletes in program history. The four-time ITA All-American is a three-time recipient of UVA’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and was the 2022 Ralph Sampson Scholarship Award presented to the third-year student-athlete who best demonstrates excellence in academics, leadership and athletics. She has won two national honors from the ITA, being named the National Freshman of the Year in 2020 and earning the 2023 Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, a prestigious award that dates back to 1982 and is presented to the student-athlete who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements in ways that embody the legacy of tennis icon and humanitarian Arthur Ashe Jr.
She finished her career ranked third in program history in singles victories (117), fourth in doubles wins (111), and fourth in combined singles and doubles wins (228).
