CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia head men’s soccer coach, George Gelnovatch, announced Thursday (June 13) the team’s slate for the 2024 season which features 11 home games and five road contests.

“I am really excited about the team we have this season,” Gelnovatch said. “We have a group of guys that we feel are ready for a challenge and the 2024 schedule will be just that. By the end of the season, I expect our strength of schedule ranking to be on par with our past two seasons as one of the most difficult in college soccer.”

The 2024 ACC schedule features home matches with Duke (Sept. 6), Stanford (Sept. 27), Virginia Tech (Oct. 4), and Syracuse (Oct. 19). The UVA road slate will feature trips to Wake Forest (Sept. 13), California (Sept. 21), Boston College (Oct. 11) and Pitt (Oct. 25).

Virginia’s non-conference schedule sees the team host its season opener against Rider (Aug. 22), as well as home matches with Colgate (Aug. 25), St. Joseph’s (Aug. 26), UNCG (Sept. 30), James Madison (Oct. 8), American (Oct. 15) and Mary Washington (Oct. 30). The Cavaliers will make just one road trip outside of ACC play when the team travels to College Park, Md., to face off with its longtime rival Maryland (Sept. 2).

The Cavaliers will host three exhibition matches at Klöckner Stadium leading up to the regular season. The team’s preseason slate features Longwood (Aug. 10), VCU (Aug. 13), and Charlotte (Aug. 17). Admission to all three exhibition matches is free.
