Three Cavaliers Named to 2025 U.S. U20 Training Roster
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Following a three-day tryout that wrapped up Sunday morning (June 30) at USA Lacrosse headquarters, head coach Shawn Nadelen named 42 players to the initial training team – which includes three Virginia men’s lacrosse players – for the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship. The event will be held next summer in Seoguipo, South Korea on Jeju Island from July 18-27, 2025.
UVA short-stick defensive midfielder Will Erdmann, who competed in his first collegiate season in 2024, and incoming first-years Kyle Colsey (attack) and Hudson Hausmann (midfield) will return to USA Lacrosse headquarters (Sparks, Md.) Aug. 19-21 for another training camp.
“The competition, coachability and comradery you guys showed was tremendous,” said Nadelen following the tryout’s conclusion. “You made our jobs in selecting the group that moved forward extremely fun and very challenging.”
Nadelen emphasized that all tryout candidates will remain in the player pool with the opportunity to attend future training opportunities.
“We’re leaving room down the road for players that continue to put in the work the rest of the summer and the fall,” Nadelen said.
The U.S. has won each of the previous nine junior men’s world championships conducted. Most recently in 2022, former Cavaliers Quentin Matsui and Danny Parker helped the U.S. U21 team (age increased due to COVID postponements) past rival Canada, 12-10, in Limerick, Ireland.
