CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia track and field program announced its women’s signing class for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday (July 23). The women’s class features a total of 17 athletes, including six transfers and four international student-athletes.

“The majority of our incoming women represent an incredible class of throwers, sprinters, middle distance and distance runners,” said Virginia Track and Field Program Director Vin Lananna. “However, we are excited about adding jumpers that will make an immediate impact on our group.”

Headlining Virginia’s women’s signing class are Christiana Ellina, Annika Kelly and Suzie Kennelly in the throws, Mary Ellen Eudaly and Stella Kermes in the middle distance and distance events, and Lily Hulland in the jumps.

A transfer from Florida International University (FIU), Ellina finished runner-up in the javelin at the 2024 Conference USA Outdoor Championships throwing for 49.60m/162-9. The Cyprus native made her NCAA Outdoor championships debut in Eugene, Ore. where she earned Honorable Mention All-American honors. The three-time All-Ivy League selection, Kelly recently finished runner-up in the hammer throw at back-to-back Ivy League Outdoor Championships (2023, 2024) for the Princeton Tigers. A native of New Zealand, Kennelly recently threw for a new personal best in the discus throw at the 2024 Australian Championships with her mark of 50m/164.

On the track, the Cavaliers add Mary Ellen Eudaly and Stella Kermes to the middle distance and distance fold. Eudaly comes to Virginia from the University of Arkansas, where she was a member of the Razorbacks’ silver medal winning distance medley relay (DMR) team at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships to garner First Team All-America honors. Among the high school ranks, Kermes made her presence known finishing second in the 800m and third in the 1600m at the NCHSAA 4A State Championships this season.

Another strong edition to the women’s roster is the Malaga, Spain, native in Hulland. Along with experience, Hulland comes to Virginia with a personal best of 5.86m/18-7.75 in the long jump and 13.25m/43-5.75 in the triple jump.

Between men and women, the Virginia Track and Field program will add a total of 33 student-athletes, including 11 transfers and five international student-athletes.

“These 33 men and women represent all areas of track and field with the incoming first years and transfer student-athletes being a reflection of the hard work of both the staff and the team to pull together this outstanding group of future cavaliers,” said Lananna.
