CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – A trio of golfers with ties to Virginia are set to compete at the United States Golf Association’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship on Aug. 5-11. This year’s event takes place at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

Joining current Cavaliers Amanda Sambach and Rebecca Skoler in the field will be former UVA standout Lauren Greenlief. Greenlief competed at UVA from 2008 to 2012. In 2015 she won the USGA’s Women’s Mid-Amateur title. Greenlief works in Washington, D.C. as a managing director and partner at Boston Consulting Group.

Skoler, a graduate student, finished second at the July qualifying site in Newton, Mass. Greenlief advance from a qualifying site in Bethesda, Md. Sambach, a senior, was exempt from qualifying as a top 20 points leaders in Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking as of March 27 and top 50 points leaders in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking as of June 5.

The championship features 36 holes of stroke play to determine the field of 64 players for match play. Stroke play concludes Tuesday and match play runs Wednesday through Sunday.

Skoler will be the first of the group on the course. She opens play at 9 a.m. Sambach tees off at 2 p.m. while Greenlief gets started at 2:10 p.m. All three golfers will start their rounds on the first hole.

The tournament champion received a gold medal and custody of the Robert Cox Trophy for one year, an exemption from qualifying for the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills in Erin, Wis., an exemption from qualifying for the next 10 U.S. Women’s Amateurs, if eligible, an invitation to the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur and likely exemptions into the Chevron Championship, AIG Women’s Open and Amundi Evian Championship.

Monday, August 5: First Round of Championship Stroke Play, 7:15 – 9:21 a.m.; 12:15 – 2:21 p.m.
Tuesday, August 6: Second Round of Championship Stroke Play, 7:15 – 9:21 a.m.; 12:15 – 2:21 p.m.
A playoff to determine low 64 will take place after the Second round, if necessary.
Wednesday, August 7: First Round Match Play, 8:30 a.m. – 1:40 p.m.
Thursday, August 8: Second Round Match Play, 7:15 – 9:45 a.m. Third Round Match Play, 1 – 2:10 p.m.
Friday, August 9: Quarterfinal Rounds of Match Play, 1:15 – 1:45 p.m.
Saturday, August 10: Semifinal Round of Match Play, 1:30 – 1:45 p.m.
Sunday, August 11: Championship Match (36 holes), 8 a.m.; approx. 1:30 p.m. (second 18 holes)
