PARIS – Former Cavalier Jordan Scott began competition in the men’s triple jump qualification round on Wednesday (August 7) at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The 16th jumper in the order in qualification Group A, Scott struggled in the beginning of the competition fouling his first attempt. No stranger to dawning the Jamaican singlet at a high level, Scott remained focused and hit the board for his best jump on the day on his second attempt leaping out 16.36m/53-8.25. On his third and final attempt, Scott recorded a mark of 15.97m/52-4.73.

To qualify for the final, athletes must meet the qualification standard (Q) of 17.10m/56-1.25 or be one of the top 12 finishers. His mark of 16.36m/53-8.25 was good enough for ninth in Group A and 24th overall between the two qualification groups. Just off the automatic qualification standard and outside of the top 12 finishers, Scott will not advance to the men’s triple jump final.

Coming into the Olympic Games, the Jamaican native owned a season best mark of 17.02m/55-10.25 from the 2024 Clyde Littlefield Relays and a personal best mark of 17.08m/56-0.25.

Andrenette Knight will compete in the women’s 4x400m relay opening round on Friday, August 9 at 4:40 a.m. ET. Below is a list of Cavalier results so far from the 2024 Olympic Games.
