CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia sophomore guard Kymora Johnson (Charlottesville, Va.) has been named a Preseason All-ACC selection following a vote by the league’s head coaches and Blue Ribbon Panel, the conference announced Tuesday (Oct. 15). The Cavaliers were picked to finish ninth in the preseason poll.

Johnson comes off a freshman season in which she earned All-ACC second team and ACC All-Freshman honors, becoming the first UVA freshman to earn All-ACC team honors since Brandi Teamer accomplished the feat in 2002. Johnson is one of just two sophomores selected to the 2024-25 Preseason All-ACC team.

Johnson led the Cavaliers in scoring averaging 15.3 points per game. Among Virginia’s four wins over ranked opponents, Johnson led the Cavaliers in scoring in three of them, all of which were 20-point games. Johnson logged eight 20-point performances including her career high of 35 points in Virginia’s victory at then-No. 15 Florida State. Following her performance at FSU, she earned her first ACC weekly honor and was named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Tamika Catchings national freshman of the week.

Johnson ranked third in assists per game (5.4) against conference opponents, and ranked second in assists per game among freshman in NCAA Division I. With 172 assists to her season tally, Johnson shattered the Virginia freshman assist record set by Sharneé Zoll in 2005.
