CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Thijs De Ridder, Malik Thomas and Chance Mallory were named NABC Division I All-District, announced Tuesday (March 17). The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.
De Ridder and Thomas were named NABC All-District East First Team, while Mallory landed on the All-District East second team.
The trio has helped the Cavaliers to a 29-5 record and No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. UVA finished second in the ACC with a 15-3 record. The Cavaliers went 2-1 at the ACC Tournament, defeating NC State (81-74) and Miami (84-62) before losing to top-ranked Duke 74-70 in the final.
De Ridder leads Virginia in scoring (15.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.2 rpg), while Thomas ranks second in scoring at 12.4 ppg. Mallory has averaged 9.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals off the bench.
No. 3 seed Virginia plays No. 14 seed Wright State (23-11) in an NCAA Tournament first round game on Friday, March 20. Tip time at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia is set for 1:50 p.m. on TBS.
