CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 15 Virginia women’s tennis team (11-4) is back on the road this weekend for two matches in the Sunshine State. The Cavaliers first take on Florida State on Friday (March 20) at 4 p.m. in Tallahassee, Fla. Virginia will then visit Miami on Sunday (March 22) at noon in Coral Gables, Fla.
VIRGINIA NOTES
- The Cavaliers rose to No. 15 in the latest ITA Team Rankings.
- Virginia picked up two conference wins at No. 18 Clemson and Georgia Tech last weekend to improve to 4-0 in ACC play.
- Junior Vivian Yang was named ACC Player of the Week on Tuesday (March 17) after going 2-0 in singles last weekend, along with two ranked doubles victories.
- Four Cavaliers currently appear in the ITA singles rankings: Senior Annabelle Xu at 32, Yang at 81, sophomore Martina Genis Salas at 106 and sophomore Isabelle Lacy at 108.
- Virginia also has two ranked doubles pairings: Yang and fifth year Melodie Collard at 4 and Xu and Genis Salas at 36.
- Freshman Kaitlyn Rolls leads the team in dual match singles victories with nine.
- Collard and Yang lead the doubles effort with an 11-4 mark this spring.
NOTES ON FSU & MIAMI
- Virginia is 18-28 all-time against Florida State with a four-match win streak.
- Although Virginia is 8-21 all-time against Miami, the Cavaliers are riding a two-match win streak into this weekend's matchup.
