No. 1 Virginia Falls at No. 4 Wake Forest

The Cavaliers suffered their first loss in ACC play.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 1 Virginia men's tennis team (15-3, 7-1 ACC) fell 4-2 to No. 4 Wake Forest (22-2) on Sunday (March 22) at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.

After the Demon Deacons clinched the doubles point following dominant wins on courts two and three, the Cavaliers put up a fight in singles. Virginia took six sets to 7-5 scores or tiebreakers, four of those on courts that fell to Wake Forest.

No. 2 Dylan Dietrich and No. 42 Andres Santamarta Roig earned the points for the Cavaliers. Dietrich won 6-3, 6-4 against No. 21 DK Suresh Ekambaram on the top court while Santamarta Roig topped Charlie Robertson 7-6 (5), 6-1 on court four.

  • The Cavaliers are back on the road next weekend, visiting Florida State on Friday (March 27) and Miami on Sunday (March 29).
