CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 13 Virginia softball team (28-3, 6-2 ACC) continues conference play at home this weekend with a three-game series against Pitt (17-13, 4-5 ACC) at Palmer Park.
Due to expected inclement weather in the area, first pitch in the series opener has been moved to noon on Friday (March 27).
Admission to all regular season home games is free to the public.

NOTING THE HOOS
- Virginia enters the weekend looking for a fourth-straight series win in ACC play after taking the series over North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Syracuse the previous three weekends
- The Cavaliers are coming off a 2-1 victory over Liberty on Wednesday night and are now 5-0 in one-run games
- The Hoos also improved to 16-1 at home this season following the midweek win over the Flames
- Virginia remains at No. 25 in the RPI after the win over Liberty and are 9-3 against teams in the RPI top 50
- Jade Hylton is closing in on another career record for the Hoos as she has 172 runs scored in her career and needs seven more to take over the top spot in the Virginia record book
- Macee Eaton has etched her name into the record book twice already with her 45 RBI so far this season rankings 10th in the UVA single-season list after setting the single-season mark of 63 RBI a year ago
- Eaton - who leads the team at the plate with a .476 average and ranks fourth in the ACC - is also climbing the UVA career record books with 124 RBI (8th) and with 35 multiple-RBI games (5th)
- Bella Cabral enters the weekend ranked fourth in the ACC in home runs (10) and is now 10th on the career list for home runs at UVA with 26 home runs
- Cabral, Eaton and Hylton are all hitting above .400 on the season to pace a Virginia offense that is hitting at a .330 clip on the year and ranks fourth in the ACC in home runs (45) and fifth in the league in RBI (203)
- The pitching staff continues to deliver for the Hoos, ranking third in the league in ERA (2.64) and leading the league in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.74) and WHIP (1.17) and second in hits allowed per 7.0 innings (5.38)
- Courtney Layne leads the ACC in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.21) and ranks second in ERA (1.59), in WHIP (0.91) and ranks in the top 25 in all three categories nationally heading into the weekend
THE SERIES WITH PITTSBURGH
- Virginia and Pittsburgh have faced off 28 times with the Cavaliers leading the series 28-10 over the Panthers
- The Hoos have won eight straight meetings in the series dating back to a series win in the 2021 meeting
- The Cavaliers have won four straight series against the Panthers heading into this weekend’s meeting
- This is the first meeting since the 2023 season when Virginia swept the series played at Pittsburgh
- Virginia leads the series 9-0 in games played in Charlottesville with only three series contested at home for UVA
