CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 4 Virginia men’s tennis team (17-3, 9-1 ACC) picked up a 4-1 victory against Miami (12-9, 4-6 ACC) on Sunday (March 24) at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, Fla.
Sophomore Keegan Rice and senior Mans Dahlberg gave the Cavaliers early momentum with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, but Miami took the top court 7-5. Freshman Andres Santamarta Roig and sophomore Jangjun Kim clinched the point with a 7-5 win at three.
Sophomore Stiles Brockett gave the Cavaliers a 2-0 lead with a quick straight-set victory at four singles. Dahlberg was edged in a tight match on five to give Miami its first point.
Kim dropped his first set 6-2 on court three, but battled in the second set to a tiebreaker, winning it 7-3. He won his third set 7-5 to give UVA a 3-1 lead.
Rice clinched the victory with a 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-2 win on the top court.
