CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women's squash's Charlotte Pastel has been named Women's Rookie of the Year in honors announced Monday (March 30) by the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference. Pastel is the third recipient of the award as a member of the Virginia women's squash program. She is the seventh-ever Cavalier to achieve the honor across the men’s and women’s programs.
Pastel finished the season tied for team lead in wins with a 13-5 record playing exclusively at position one. After beginning the season with five consecutive wins, she notched wins against No. 7 Cornell and No. 15 Georgetown. She held a six-match win streak from Feb. 13-March 6, including three victories in Virginia's run in the MASC Championships and a pair of 3-1 wins in the CSA Team Championships over No. 11 Dartmouth and No. 3 Stanford.
Pastel also earned her first invitation to compete in the Ramsay Cup, where she reached the round of 16.
