CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia freshman attackman Brendan Millon and senior defenseman John Schroter were named the ACC Men’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for games played March 23–29, the conference announced Tuesday (March 31). The duo led the Cavaliers in a pair of wins last week, an 18-7 rout of Dartmouth (March 23) and 11-9 triumph over then-No. 1 Notre Dame (March 28).
The awards are the first of their careers and mark the second consecutive week UVA has garnered ACC weekly honors.
Millon combined for six goals and eight assists to average 7.0 points per game last week. He tallied 10 points against the Big Green – the most by an ACC player in a game this year – on four goals and six assists. In UVA's ACC opener against the Fighting Irish, Millon notched two goals – including the game-winner in the fourth quarter – and two assists, both of which tied for game highs. His third game-winning goal of the season came in epic fashion: a low-angle right-handed shot from outside, fired with his defender draped over him, that slipped past the UND goalie’s nearside ear.
Schroter anchored a UVA defense that limited both opponents to single-digit goals. Against Dartmouth, he held his primary matchup point-less, while collecting a game-high three caused turnovers. In the Cavaliers’ victory over UND, Schroter tied for a game-high five ground balls and two caused turnovers. He forced a crucial fourth-quarter turnover as UND pushed in transition toward UVA’s cage, delivering a body check that dislodged the ball and erased a prime scoring chance with the game tied 9-9.
Up next, No. 16 Virginia (6-4, 1-0 ACC) travels to No. 7 Duke (8-1, 0-1 ACC) on Saturday (April 4) for its ACC road opener. Opening faceoff from Koskinen Stadium is scheduled for noon on ACC Network.
The Cavaliers look to snap a 20-game skid in the regular-season series with the Blue Devils, a streak that began in 2005. Duke dropped its first game of the 2026 season at No. 7 Syracuse Saturday afternoon, 16-15.
