CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 8 Virginia women’s tennis team (18-4, 11-0 ACC) picked up a 4-0 home win over Wake Forest (11-12, 3-8 ACC) on Friday afternoon (April 10) at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar's Head Resort.
The Cavaliers' win streak improves to 12 matches and they remain the lone team unbeaten in ACC play.
Virginia celebrated Senior Day with a pre-match ceremony honoring Melodie Collard, Meggie Navarro and Annabelle Xu.
The Cavaliers dominated in doubles, picking up wins on all three courts. Kaitlyn Rolls and Navarro won 6-2 on three, then No. 8 Collard and Vivian Yang won 6-2 on one and No. 28 Xu and Martina Genis Salas brought it home with a 6-3 victory on two.
No. 23 Xu gave the Hoos their second point of the match after her opponent on court two retired down 6-1, 3-1. Junior Blanca Pico Navarro grew the lead to 3-0 with her 6-3, 6-2 win on six before No. 81 Yang provided the clincher with her 6-3, 6-3 victory on the top court.
