STANFORD, Calif. —Will Anthony of the Virginia No. 7 men’s track and field program broke the10,000-meter program record at the Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track & Angell Field in Stanford Calif. on Friday (April 3).
In a loaded field at the Stanford Invitational, Will Anthony shattered the program record in the men's 10,000-meters with his time of 28:02.25. The New Zealand native ultimately finished 15th in the first section of two, the 10,000-meter invitational. His previous best was 28:21.12 from the 2025 Raleigh Relays. The previous program record was held by current graduate student, Andrew Jones, at 28:20.95, also from the 2025 Raleigh Relays. Anthony is a 2024 outdoor honorable mention All-American and 2024 silver medalist in the event.

The Virginia No. 7 men's and No. 18 women's track and field teams will travel to Durham, N.C. to compete at the Duke Invitational Wednesday through Saturday, April 8-11 before returning home to host the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field Wednesday through Saturday, April 16-18.
