Bryan Lee Leads UVA in First Round at Calusa Cup

NAPLES, Fla. – Senior Bryan Lee shot a 3-under 69 in the opening round of the Calusa Cup at Calusa Pines Golf Club. He is tied for fifth after 18 holes, one stroke off the overall lead.

Lee had only one blemish on his scorecard with a bogey on the fourth hole. He got back in the red with three birdies in his final 11 holes and had four total on the day. The 69 was his eighth round in the 60s this season, matching his season total from 2024-25.

Graduate student Paul Chang overcame three bogeys with a trio of birdies to shoot an even-par 72. He sits in a tie for 14th place, just four strokes back from overall leaders Ryan Shellberg (Iowa), Parker Sands (Florida), Jack Turner (Florida) and Hugo Trommetter (USF).

As a team, the Cavaliers are six-over after posting a score of 294 and seventh among the eight teams competing. ACC foe Louisville, third-ranked Florida and Eastern Michigan all have a share of the round one lead at 5-under (283).

First year Michael Lee is 3-over after shooting a first-round 75. Classmate Alex Wells made his first start in team competition for the Cavaliers and shot an 82 (+10).
