by Scott Fitzgerald

NAPLES, Fla. – Graduate student Paul Chang held on for the victory at the Calusa Cup thanks to a closing round 67, clearing the field by four strokes. Chang, Michael Lee and Bryan Lee each turned in top 10 finishes to help Virginia place second out of eight teams.

Chang played his final 41 holes of the 54-hole event without a bogey to complete his second individual win of his collegiate career. He won the 2025 NCAA Reno Regional en route to UVA’s runner-up finish two weeks later at NCAA Championships.

As a team, the Cavaliers played the final 36 holes at 24-under par, the best score by seven strokes by any squad in the field. Virginia’s second place finish makes it six times in eight tournaments finishing in first or second place this season.

Freshman Michael Lee posted his best round of his young career with a 66 on the final day, tied with Florida’s Luke Poulter for the lowest round three total. Michael Lee teed off No. 10 tand went on to birdie six of his last eight holes and shot a 30 on the front nine. Lee vaulted himself up to a tie for seventh place on the individual leaderboard.

Senior Bryan Lee rounded out the UVA top 10 trio, placing ninth out of 40 competitors. He concluded his stay in Naples with an even-par 72 on Tuesday and was 5-under (211) for the tournament. His card featured an eagle on the 512-yard, par 5, 18th hole. It marked Bryan Lee’s fifth top 10 of the season.

Junior Josh Duangmanee had his best round of the tournament on Tuesday and carded a 2-under 70. He holed out for eagle on the 291-yard par 4, 8th hole. Duangmanee totaled five birdies on his scorecard in the final round.

The Cavaliers will host the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial Tournament April 12-13. Admission to the 54-hole event at Birdwood Golf Course is free and open to the public.
