Cavaliers Win Four Titles on Day Two of the US National Championships

IRVINE, Calif.  – Virginia swimmers are competing at the Toyota National Championships July 28- August 1 at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif.

Prelims are at 12 p.m. ET each day, with the finals session starting at 9 p.m. ET.

All sessions will stream on the USA Swimming YouTube Channel, with finals also streaming on Peacock.

Wednesday, July 29 Recap

• Anna Moesch won her second national title of the week, taking gold in the 200m Free. Her time of 1:55.05 broke the UVA program record in the event. She also moves up to the No. 5 American performer all-time in the event
• Sophia Umstead won her first career national title, taking gold in the 200m Breast with a time of 2:25.57
• David King won his first career national title, taking gold in the 200m Back (1:55.01), clocking the fourth-best time in the world this year
• Isabelle Stadden, a member of the pro training group, won the 200m Back (2:04.76)
• Virginia had eight swimmers make A Finals and two more in B Finals
• Madi Mintenko took bronze in the 200m Free (1:55.87). She had the top time in morning prelims in the event (1:56.81)
• Cavan Gormsen was sixth in the 200m Free (1:57.31)
• Katie Christopherson was fourth in the 200m Breast (2:27.62)
• Teagan O'Dell was fifth in the 200m Back (2:08.16)
• Spencer Nicholas and Bryn Greenwaldt both made the B Final of the 50m Fly
• Incoming Cavalier Gerhardt Hoover placed third in the 18 and Under final in the 200m Breast (2:14.38)
