Named the ACC Defensive Player of the week (Oct. 15). Geusgens played pivotal role in a weekend road trip that saw the Cavaliers post a key ACC win at No. 5 Louisville and add a shutout victory at Miami (Ohio). After helping Virginia limit Louisville to just one goal and four shots on goal in Friday’s 2-1 win, Geusgens did it all for the Cavaliers in Sunday’s game at Miami. leading a backline defense that did not allow the Redhawks to take a single shot and did not yield a penalty corner. She also scored Virginia’s lone goal in the 1-0 victory on a hard strike off an offensive penalty corner
Was also named the Synapse Sports NCAA Division I National Rookie of the Week (Oct. 15)
In addition to the game-winner against Miami, also scored game-winning goals against Yale and at Syracuse
Appeared in all 23 games with 22 starts

High School/Club Hockey

Has been playing hockey since the age of six for Hockey Club HGC in the Netherlands, including spending the past two years playing for its A1 team
In 2017-18 in the Super A league, won the outdoor championship and finished in second place at nationals
Won an outdoor championship in 2013-14 in the top league with the C2 team after winning an indoor championship the year before with the D1 team
Also plays tennis
Spent two years volunteering at Meet and Move Camp, a sports camp for refugee children aged six to 12
