TIFFANY ON TERENZI
2025
– “It is absolutely startling to watch Joey compete! An awe-inspiring combination of intensity, skill, joy and reckless can be witnessed as your eye follows #5 around the field. And by reckless, this is stated in an adoring manner: Joey hurls himself into the mayhem, disregarding his current or potential future health status. Joey will continue to be asked to create and deny, playing at both ends of the field as well as faceoff wings.” 2024 – “Joey is being asked to handle both offensive and defensive responsibilities, and he is attacking it as if he was a student pursuing a double major. Joey is splitting his time between Kevin and Kip’s offensive meetings and the defensive meetings run by Logan and myself, and then following up later to ensure he does not fall behind in any area. Joey competes with a joyous warrior spirit. He abandons all inhibitions on the field as he hunts the ball and whoever is carrying it. His spirit is infectious, and his teammates love him for it.” 2023 – “To watch Joey play lacrosse is to see a blend of reckless abandon, joyful embraces with teammates, daredevil end-to-end runs with the ball, passionate quests for ground balls and highly skillful play. Joey loves this game, and everything about it … as in everything. Scoring goals is a part of it, but he relishes the requisite running, checking and hustle. We have not yet found any part of the practice plan that does not get Joey excited or competitive. The plan at this point is to use the 2023 season as a redshirt year for Joey.  Why?  It is a combination of two factors:  first, Joey has been very impactful during our Fall practices, and we see what an exciting athlete he will be for us in the future; and second, we have more depth at the midfield in 2023 than usual.  Our program would benefit tremendously from having Joey here for a fifth year.”

WHY UVA?

  • “I come from a family where no one played lacrosse. In sixth grade, I had to decide between playing baseball and lacrosse. I chose lacrosse and this was the best decision that I ever made. My father was very supportive even though he still talks about what a great left-handed pitcher I could have become.”
