• All-ACC Academic Team
• Runner-up in singles at the ITA Atlantic Regional (Oct. 23)
• Advanced to the second round of singles at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships (Nov. 8)
• Was sidelined after ITA Indoors with an injury, returning to the lineup in the final series of the regular-season
• Finished his rookie year with a 20-14 record in singles
• Went 2-2 in the NCAA Championship, including picking up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Udayan Bhakar of St. John’s at No. 5 singles and a 6-2, 6-3 win over Wake Forest’s Rrezart Cungu at No. 4
• Won three singles matches to advance out of prequalifying and earn a spot in the qualifying singles tournament of the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American (Oct. 3). Won one match in qualifying before falling.
• Downed Columbia’s Jason Lui, 6-3, 6-2, in his collegiate debut at the UVA Masters (Sept. 21)

BACKGROUND

• Ranked as high as the No. 5 recruit in the country by Tennis Recruiting.net. The five-star and blue chip recruit is the top-ranked player from the state of New York and the Middle Atlantic
• Runner-up at 2017 Clay Court Nationals and semifinalist at the USTA 18s Hard Court Nationals
• Competed in the 2017 US Open Junior Championships in both singles and doubles, advancing to the Round of 16 in doubles
• In 2015 was the Boys 16s singles winner of the prestigious Eddie Herr International Championships
• Trained at Saddlebrook Tennis Academy
• Played in six Futures tournaments in 2018, with his best result coming at the Rochester Futures where he reached the Round of 16 in singles and making three doubles quarterfinals (Rochester, Buffalo, Calabasas)
• Partnered with Gianni Ross at a pair of Futures tournaments in the summer of 2018, reaching the quarterfinals in Rochester

PERSONAL

• His father, Matthew Goetz, played tennis at JMU and his mother, Christina Goetz, played tennis at Penn State
• Has two younger sisters, Alexa and Taylor
