DeVante Frazier

DeVante Frazier joined Virginia Athletics as an associate athletic trainer with the men’s basketball program. Frazier brings more than a decade of athletic training experience with a career focused on the health, performance, rehabilitation, and overall well-being of collegiate student-athletes.

Prior to joining Virginia, Frazier served as a staff athletic trainer at Drake University, where he worked with men’s basketball. Before Drake, he was an associate athletic trainer at McNeese State University, overseeing the healthcare needs of the men’s basketball program.

Frazier previously spent three seasons at the University of Louisville as the director of sports medicine and head athletic trainer for men’s basketball. During his time at Louisville, he worked closely with the men’s basketball health and performance staff and was involved in injury prevention, rehabilitation, recovery, and overall medical care for the program. He also served in leadership and mentorship roles within the sports medicine department.

Frazier began his Division I career at Lamar University, where he earned his master’s degree while working with football, track and field, men’s basketball, tennis and golf. He later worked at IUPUI with men’s basketball, swimming and diving, golf and cheer before joining Colorado State University, where he worked with men’s basketball, women’s tennis and men’s golf.

Throughout his career, Frazier has also worked with NBA and international professional basketball athletes and has been part of championship programs and NCAA postseason teams. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification and a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. He holds additional certifications in performance exercise, corrective exercise, dry needling and myofascial cupping.

A Georgia native, Frazier earned his Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training from Valdosta State University in 2015. His approach to athletic training centers on building strong relationships with student-athletes and providing individualized care that helps them stay healthy, perform at their best, and return safely from injury.

Outside of athletic training, Frazier enjoys spending time with his wife, Radhika, son, Kyan, and dog, Allie. The family resides in Charlottesville and is excited to call Virginia home.
