Joe Savino joined the Virginia baseball staff as the program’s pitching coordinator in the fall of 2024.
Before joining the staff, Savino pitched for the Cavaliers as a graduate student during the 2024 season. In his lone season on the bump for UVA, Savino went 3-2 with a 4.20 ERA. Savino also collected 24 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched for the Hoos.
Savino came to Virginia after pitching three seasons at Elon. During his time with the Phoenix, he posted a 3.94 ERA over 50 career appearances and 169 innings pitched.
In his final season with Elon, Savino earned All-CAA Honorable Mention accolades after going 5-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 53.2 innings pitched with a trio of saves.
The Ronkonkoma, N.Y. native graduated from Elon with a degree in finance.
