Shane Cohen joined the Virginia Cross Country and Track and Field staff as a student assistant coach in the fall of 2024 after a successful career for the Cavaliers. Cohen won the 2024 NCAA 800m individual title after earning bronze at the 2024 ACC Outdoor Championships. Cohen was a member of the Virginia indoor distance medley relay team that earned gold at the 2024 Indoor ACC Championships. The Pennsylvania native qualified for the first US Olympic Team Trials of his career where he finished sixth in a personal best time of 1:44.65 for 800 meters. Cohen is pursuing a degree in public policy.
