TB Wali Lundy had three touchdown receptions today for thefirst time in his Virginia career. It’s the second most touchdownreceptions by a Virginia football player in a game and the first timesince Tyrone Davis had three touchdown receptions against Navy in1994. When Connor Hughes kicked a 52-yard field goal in the secondquarter, he became the first Virginia player to kick two 50+ yardfield goals in the same season. Hughes is now 14-of-15 on field goalattempts this season. He kicked a 53-yard field goal against WakeForest on Sept. 27 and was three-for-three on his field goal attemptstoday. The 63-yard pass play from QB Matt Schaub to WR Ryan Sawyerin the second quarter is Virginia’s longest play from scrimmage thisseason. It’s Virginia’s second longest play from scrimmage under headcoach Al Groh. TB Alvin Pearman had 13 receptions for 87 yards today. He has37 receptions for 272 yards and one touchdown in the last three games. Freshman Ian-Yates Cunningham made the first start of hisVirginia career today at left guard. WR Ryan Sawyer’s 98 yards receiving are a career high. WR Marques Hagans seven receptions are a season and career high. TE Heath Miller now has 46 receptions this season and that’sa UVa season record for a tight end. QB Matt Schaub’s 393 yards passing today are a Virginiasingle-game record, and his 41 pass completions tie the Virginiasingle-season record. Aaron Brooks held the previous passing yardagerecord with 390 yards against Virginia Tech in 1997. Schaub tied hisown single-game completion record of 41 against Georgia Tech in 2002. Schaub’s 393 yards passing today mark the seventh 300+ yardpassing game of his career, a Virginia record. It’s his third 300+yard passing game of the season, tying a Virginia record. Schaub nowhas thrown for at least 200 yards in his last six games, a UVa record. Schaub now has thrown 51 touchdown passes in his career. Heis just the second Virginia player to throw at least 50 touchdownpasses in a career. Shawn Moore (1987-90) holds the Virginia careertouchdown passes record with 55. NC State’s 51 points today are the most given up by Virginiasince a 63-21 loss to Illinois in the 1999 Micronpc.com Bowl.
