UVa scored first for the sixth time in seven games this season. Maryland Eastern Shore (Nov. 26) was the only team to score first in a game vs. UVa this season.

Jason Cain’s three-pointer in the first half was his first of the season and just the second of his career (his first was vs. Miami on Jan. 12, 2005).

Hampton is the first in-state opponent to play in the John Paul Jones Arena. The Cavaliers have won eight consecutive in-state games and 16 straight home in-state contests.

Sean Singletary had his consecutive free throw streak end at 39 with a miss at the 17:05 mark of the second half. It is believed to be the third longest streak in school history. Roger Mason, Jr., made 45 consecutive free throws during the 200-01 season. Jeff Lamp holds the school record for consecutive free throws made with 48 during the 1979-80 season.Singletary had made 10 free throws in the first half and is 55-58 (.948 ) on the season.

Sean Singletary set career highs for free throws attempted (16) and made (14). His previous career bests were 13 made (vs. Arizona – 11/12/06) and 14 attempted (Arizona – 11/12/06 and Gonzaga – 12/17/05).

Sean Singletary scored a season-high 27 points, the fourth time this season and 17th time in his career he has scored 20 or more points in a game.

UVa out rebounded Hampton 49-33 marking the sixth consecutive opponent the Cavaliers have out-rebounded. UVa has not been out-rebounded this season (the Cavaliers and Arizona tied with 36 boards).

UVa had five players score in double figures: (Mamadi Diane (10), Adrian Joseph (12), Jason Cain (12), Ryan Pettinella (14), and Sean Singletary (27)). The last time Virginia had five players score in double figures was December 23, 2005 against Loyola (Md.).

Two Virginia players posted double-doubles against Hampton: Mamadi Diane (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Ryan Pettinella (14 points, 10 rebounds). The last time two players recorded double-doubles in the same game was against Maryland on January 19, 2005.

Ryan Pettinella recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Hampton’s 32 fouls ties for the 18th most in a game by a UVa opponent in school history. The record is 36.

Mamadi Diane registered his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-best 11 rebounds.

UVa’s 44 free throws attempted are a season high and it ties for the 20th most taken in a game by the Cavaliers.

Sean Singletary was 10-10 from the free throw line in the first half. The rest of the team went 5-14 (35.7 percent).

The last UVa coach ejection from a game is believed to have occurred on Jan. 14, 1976 when Terry Holland was ejected vs. Virginia Tech in Richmond (a 91-69 loss).
