CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s soccer program announced today its 2014-15 recruiting class. The class includes eight student-athletes who will join an experienced squad which advanced to the 2013 NCAA College Cup.

The 2014-15 class, with hometown, high school and club team:
Jeff Caldwell (Todd, N.C./Watauga/NC Fusion)
Julian Cummings (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford/DC United Academy)
Steven Gandy (Gainesville, Va./Patriot/DC United Academy)
Liam Jenkins (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin/Richmond Strikers)
Nate Odusote (North Haledon, N.J./Hawthorne Christian/NY Red Bulls Academy)
Peter Pearson (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry/Beach FC)
Jake Rozhansky (Germantown, Md./Montgomery Blair/Olney B&G)
Fabrice Shema (Louisville, Ky./Waggener/River City Rovers)

“We are thrilled to welcome this class to Virginia,” Virginia head coach George Gelnovatch said. “We feel that the members of this class are extremely talented and fit in well with our program. We are excited for them to arrive on Grounds and join us for the 2014 season.”

Gelnovatch added that UVa anticipates adding another signee during the spring signing period.

The student-athletes join the Virginia program which loses just two starters from its 2013 team which advanced to the NCAA College Cup and reached the ACC championship game. UVa has won six national championships and 15 ACC titles and also has appeared in 33-consecutive NCAA tournaments – the longest current streak in the nation.

Following are brief bios on each of the signees.

Jeff Caldwell, Goalkeeper
• Already enrolled at UVa
• Ranked the No. 1 goalkeeper by Top Drawer Soccer
• Ranked 20th overall by Top Drawer Soccer
• Ranked ninth overall by College Soccer News
• Member of the U17, U18 and U20 US National Teams
• Member of NC Fusion that placed third in the Academy Finals Week
• Received a 4.25 GPA in high school

Julian Cummings, Forward
• Member of the U16 and U18 DC United Academy teams 2011-2013
• Member of Virginia ODP State Team from 2008-2011
• Member of the U17 Grenada National Team in 2012

Steven Gandy, Defender
• Ranked 150th overall by Top Drawer Soccer
• Ranked as the 32nd overall defender by Top Drawer Soccer
• Member of the DC United Academy team
• Named as a U16 Academy Standout for Fall 2012 by ESNN
• Named to the East Conference Development Academy U15/16 Starting XI for the 2012-13 season

Liam Jenkins, Midfielder
• Plays for the Richmond Strikers US Development Academy teams

Nate Odusote, Defender
• Member of the U18 New York Red Bulls Academy
• In his Sophomore year, he scored 24 goals and had nine assists
• Won NorthJersey.com Sophomore of the Year

Peter Pearson, Midfielder
• Ranked 85th overall by Top Drawer Soccer
• Ranked as the 28th forward by Top Drawer Soccer
• Named to the 1995 US Youth Soccer ODP NCAA Interregional All-Tournament Team in 2011
• Plays club for Beach FC
• Two-time Tidewater Conference Player of the Year
• Three-time first-team All-VISAA
• Captain of the US Soccer Region 1 team three years in a row
• 2013 All-Tidewater Boys Soccer Player of the Year
• Guided Cape Henry to a state runner-up finish in 2013

Jake Rozhansky, Midfielder
• Ranked 77th overall by Top Drawer Soccer
• Ranked as the 22nd midfielder by Top Drawer Soccer
• Top Drawer Soccer 2011 Mid Atlantic Team of the Month
• Member of the U17 National Team
• Member of the Bethesda-Olney club team

Fabrice Shema, Defender
• Member of River City Rovers Academy
• Kentucky West All-State Honorable Mention while playing for Louisville Collegiate in 2011
• Named to Kentucky West All-State Second Team in 2013 while playing for Waggener
