Head Coach Joanne Boyle

On the game
“Just excited about the win and the game as a whole. I thought it was great. Florida State is a great team and I’m really proud of the team and how they responded after the Duke game.”

On UVa’s response after their loss to Duke
“You never know. You hope they don’t have a hangover. We had good prep days, so that always bodes well. I know there’s a spirit about this team that we’re not just going t lay down and die. We’re not going to be perfect every game, so I was glad to see how we regrouped and came through.”

On Breyana Mason starting at point guard:
“Tiffany [Suarez] was great for us for so long but she started to feel tight. But we have the luxury of having another point guard out there t get some experience. But who’s to say tat it’s not going to change again, but whatever works for us now is what we’re going to go with.”

On the possibility of starting Faith Randolph
“I think about it a lot. I have more conversations with myself and other people about it. The great thing about Faith is that she doesn’t care, it is what it is, and she’s going to deliver. Believe me, it will happen, but whatever is working now is what we’re going with.”

On UVa’s defensive success
“Just trying to play more aggressive. It helps when you’re making shots and the balance on both ends is a little better with everyone playing more excited. I thought we were more patient on offense which allowed our defense to get set, then we played aggressive defensively.”

On the team
“This team is better than its record. But we have a lot of season left and it’ll show up in the games we have left.”

Senior Guard Lexie Gerson

On the play of Faith Randolph
“All game, I knew I would be racking up my assists just passing her the ball, knowing that it was going to go in. I always say that the sixth man is the most important player on the team. I used to be the sixth man, so I know. I think Faith has done an unbelievable job coming off of the bench and being the spark. I appreciate everything she’s done for this team.”

On the key to her team-high eight assists
“My shooters were hitting shots. I was just getting them the ball, honestly. I was trying to get them easy layups or swing passes. They were making me look good.”

On if she feels that the team is better than its record indicates
“Absolutely. I have 114% faith in my team and what we are capable of doing. I’m excited about the future. I think this was a big step for us, just in terms of the way it felt. It was really fun and I felt like everyone was full of passion, which I’m not sure we’ve had in every game.”

Sophomore Guard Faith Randolph

On her strong shooting performance
“My shot felt good today. With Frankie and Lexie giving me open passes, I was just knocking them down.”

On coming off the bench
“I kind of use it as an advantage by watching the game and seeing what we need, where the defense is, and where I can get my shot off. It’s helpful sometimes to see the game before being in it.”

On providing a spark for the team in recent games
“I just try to feel the flow. I try to be patient on offense, and when I see looks, I take them.”
