Recap | Final Stats

Head coach Joanne Boyle

“Once Chelsea Douglas hit a couple of threes, Wake Forest started feeling it and we played too fast. I don’t care how much we are ahead, we just have to settle in and take care of business until the buzzer sounds. I thought we got a little bit too relaxed in playing in the offensive end. We started turning the ball over a little too much.”
“I am glad we hit our free throws and the ball was in the hands of the people who needed to be shooting down the stretch.”

On the play of Sydney Umeri
“Syd really had some good, quality minutes. She picked up Sarah Imovbioh’s minutes when she had to go out with foul trouble. She made a couple of baskets and got some key rebounds and just held court in the middle of the floor.”

On how helpful it is to have experienced upperclassmen
“In the end, you start taking some of your freshmen out and you put your veterans in there. They are either going to win it for you, or we are going to go down fighting. They did a good job today.”

On taking charges
“They love getting in the paint and they leave their feet a lot, so one of our game plans was to sit there and try to take as many charges as we could. I thought we did a good job with that.”

Senior guard Kelsey Wolfe

“I think it says a lot about us that we stayed focused through the whole game, especially when they were coming back. But we were able to knock down our free throws.”

“We can definitely take a lot from this game. We can’t get up a lot and then let them claw their way back into the game. It’s their home floor so we just need to play better down the stretch.”

On how Wake got back into the game
“They just hit open shots and went down and got some boards and some and-ones.”

On her performance
“I was 0-for from three-point range, but I was able to drive and get to the rim and knock down some shots.”
