Virginia Team Notes
• First-Time Starters: Offense: Ryan Doull (LG), Greyson Lambert (QB), Michael Mooney (LT), Canaan Severin (WR); Defense: (FS)
• Six Cavaliers made their collegiate debuts: Quin Blanding**, Doni Dowling**, Micah Kiser, Andre Levrone, Tyler Shirley and Wilfred Wahee – ** – denotes true freshman
• Virginia is now 80-36-9 all-time in season-opening games, including a 74-20-7 home-season opening mark in Charlottesville
• Mike London is now 6-1 in season-opening games as a head coach, including a 4-1 mark at UVa
• The Cavaliers trailed at the half for the sixth straight game dating back to last season
• In UVa game records dating back to the 1930 season, UCLA’s three defensive touchdowns was a first for a Virginia opponent.
• Virginia allowed a pair of interception touchdowns in the same game for the first time since 2006 (Pittsburgh, Darrelle Revis and Clint Session)
• The Cavaliers didn’t allow a quarterback sack for the first time since game six of last season (Oct. 12 at Maryland)
• Virginia is 0-1 all-time vs. UCLA and 0-5 vs. Pac-12 opponents
Virginia Player Notes
• Grayson Lambert made his first collegiate start and established career highs in completions (16), attempts (23) and interceptions (2)
• Today marked the first time Matt Johns threw the ball in college. He was the holder in 2013 as a redshirt freshman and previously took snaps under center on rushing plays.
• Johns finished the game going 13-for-22 for 154 yards, including a pair of touchdown passes (29 yards to Andre Levrone and 23 yards to Darius Jennings)
• Kevin Parks led UVa with 55 rushing yards on 17 attempts
• Parks extended his reception streak to 12 games
• Taquan Mizzell had a career-best six receptions, extending his reception streak to 10 games, and a career-high 10 carries
• Canaan Severin had career highs in receptions (5), receiving yards (55) and long reception (32 yards)
• Andre Levrone had three receptions for 75 yards and a 29-yard touchdown reception in his collegiate debut
• Darius Jennings extended his reception streak to six games with his 23-yard touchdown catch (10th career) in the third quarter
• Jennings moved into 12th all-time at Virginia with 109 career receptions
• Doni Dowling had five receptions for 55 yards in his collegiate debut
• Kyle Dockins extended his reception streak to three games
• Henry Coley led Virginia with career-tying 14 tackles, career-high two sacks and second career forced fumble
• Quin Blanding had nine tackles in his collegiate debut
• Anthony Harris added 10 tackles
• Daquan Romero had a career-high three tackles for loss and had his second career forced fumble (3rd quarter) and second career fumble recovery (4th quarter)
• Max Valles tied a career best with six tackles and had two sacks
• Miles Gooch had a career-best three receptions for 20 yards
• Mike Moore had his first career fumble recovery
• David Dean recorded his second career pass breakup during UCLA’s first drive of the game
• Kicker Ian Frye went 2-of-2 on field goals and 2-of-2 on PATs in his first action since Sept. 28, 2013 (at Pittsburgh)
UCLA Postgame Notes
• UCLA last scored three defensive touchdowns in a game in 1986 at Oregon State. Eric Smith fumble return. Craig Rutledge interception return. Alan Dial interception return. Game was played in Portland, Ore.
• Brett Hundley has now thrown for or run for a touchdown in each of his 28 career games
• UCLA is 24-5 in last 29 games its has won the turnover battle
• Hundley moved up to No.3 on the all-time school passing yards list . He entered the game with 6,811 passing yards. No. 3 was Cory Paus, 6,877. No. 2 is Drew Olson, 2002-05 at 8,532 yards.
