Cavaliers Fall in Series Finale to Georgia Tech, 7-1

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team dropped the series finale with Georgia Tech, 7-1, Sunday (March 8) at The Park. The Yellow Jackets improved to 10-12 (3-3 ACC), while the Cavaliers fell to 4-17 (1-5 ACC).
Sophomore McKall Miller (Ashburn, Va.) provided the only run for UVa, launching a solo home run to left in the fourth inning, her second of the season. Freshman Danni Ingraham (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) had Virginia’s other two hits.
Freshman Andie Formby (Orange, Calif.) took the loss (4-9), allowing five runs in 2.2 innings, while her twin sister, Alex Formby (Orange, Calif.) gave up two runs (one earned) in 4.1 innings of relief with four strikeouts.
Kylie Kleinschmidt (3-6) pitched the complete game win for GT, allowing one run with five strikeouts.
The Cavaliers return to action Wednesday (March 11) for a doubleheader at George Mason in Fairfax, Va., at 4 p.m.
