Virginia Game Notes
Team Notes
• Virginia’s 21 points in the first quarter are the most first-quarter points by the Cavaliers since they scored 27 on Sept. 29, 2007 against Pitt.
• The last time Virginia scored 21 points in any quarter was Oct. 4, 2014 in the second quarter against Pitt.
• This was the 450th all-time game played at Scott Stadium. The first game was played on Oct. 15, 1931 against VMI.
• Virginia leads the all-time series, 34-33.
Player Notes
• TB Daniel Hamm’s 48-yard reception in the first quarter was the longest of his career.
• TB Olamide Zaccheaus’ 15-yard pass to TE Evan Butts for a first-quarter touchdown was the first completion of Zaccheaus’ career. It was the first TD thrown by someone other than a quarterback since Perry Jones threw a 36-yarder in 2012 against Louisiana Tech.
• Zaccheaus’ 50-yard touchdown reception was his first-career touchdown reception and the longest reception of his career.
• It was the first time since Perry Jones at Miami in 2011 that a Cavalier threw for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass in the same game.
• Zaccheaus threw for 15 yards, rushed for 20, had 89 receiving yards (a career high), 50 kick-return yards and four on a punt return.
• QB Matt Johns threw for a career-high 344 yards, going 24-of-33. His previous career high was 325 yards against Duke in 2014. It was Johns’ second career 300-yard passing game
• Johns’ 344 yards is tied for 12th on the Virginia single-game passing yards list.
• Johns now has 27 career touchdown passes, tying him for seventh at UVA.
• Johns now has 19 touchdown passes in 2015, placing him No. 6 all-time at UVA for a season.
• Johns threw for 344 yards, pushing his career total to 3,748 passing yards and placing the junior No. 12 all-time at UVA.
• True-freshman WR David Eldridge’s 45-yard reception in the first quarter was his longest of the season.
• RB Taquan Mizzell finished the game with five receptions, giving him 68 receptions in 2015, ranking him third in ACC history in running back receptions in a season, passing Duke’s Mike Grayson (1983, 66).
• Mizzell’s 68 receptions are the most catches by a Virginia running back in a single season in program history.
• Mizzell had two rushing and one receiving touchdown, his first three-TD game of his career.
• Mizzell finished with 43 receiving yards, giving him 671 receiving yards this season, moving him up to second place in ACC history in receiving yards by a running back in a season, moving him past Duke’s Roger Boone (1988, 630).
• Mizzell has had a reception in 32-straight games.
• Mizzell now has 136 career receptions, placing him No. 5 all-time at Virginia in career receptions.
• WR T.J. Thorpe matched his Virginia career high with five receptions.
• CB Darious Latimore’s interception in the end zone in the first quarter was the second of his career.
• MLB Micah Kiser had a career-high 17 tackles.
• Kiser had 10 solo tackles, the first time a Cavalier had double-digit solo tackles since Quin Blanding last season against Georgia Tech (11/1/14).
• DT Andrew Brown logged his first career sack in the fourth quarter.
• FS Quin Blanding had his 11th double-digit tackle game of his career with 11 tackles.

DUKE INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Redshirt junior quarterback Thomas Sirk rushed for 38 yards, lifting his season total to 593, the second most by a Duke quarterback in a year in program history.
o Mike Dunn owns the record with 757 rushing yards in 1976.
• Freshman wide receiver T.J. Rahming caught 12 passes for 190 yards, increasing his season reception total to 33, the fourth most by a freshman in program history. His 459 yards receiving this year are also the fourth most by a Duke rookie.
o The 12 grabs and 190 yards are both Duke freshman single-game records, while the 190 yards is also the ninth most by any Duke wide receiver. The 12 grabs are tied for the 10th most in a game by a Duke player.
o In the previous five games, Rahming had made just two receptions.
• Redshirt junior Anthony Nash logged his second consecutive 100-yard game, hauling in five passes for 104 yards. He upped his two-game total to 10 receptions and 205 yards after totaling 14 catches and 208 yards during the first nine games of the year.
• Redshirt senior tight end Braxton Deaver has caught 14 passes in the last four games after having four through the first seven contests of the year. .
• Redshirt junior kickoff returner DeVon Edwards returned a first-quarter kickoff 94 yards for the score, his third kickoff return touchdown of the year and sixth of his career. Former Clemson standout C.J. Spiller owns the ACC career record with seven kickoff return scores.
• Edwards totaled 174 kickoff return yards, bringing his career total to 1,907 to surpass Randy Jones (1987-90/1,890) for second place on the Duke career chart.
• Redshirt senior safety Jeremy Cash, a Nagurski Award finalist, tallied six tackles to bring his Duke career total to 326, the eighth most in program history.
• Cash totaled 0.5 tackles for lost yardage, upping his total to 16.5 in the last nine games.
o In Cash’s last 15 games, he owns 23.5 hits behind the line of scrimmage.
o In 38 career games at Duke, Cash has recorded 38.0 TFL.
o Cash has 18.0 TFL this season, tied for the sixth most in a year at Duke.
• Junior cornerback Breon Borders nabbed his second interception of the season late in the second quarter. The pick was Borders’ ninth of his career.
• Redshirt freshman linebacker Tinashe Bere totaled seven tackles, forced one fumble and logged a career-best 3.0 tackles for loss against the Cavaliers. The TFL total ranks tied for second most in the Duke single-game freshman records book.
• Senior kicker Ross Martin, the Duke career points and field goal record holder and a Lou Groza Award semifinalist, made two field goals in two attempts, moving to 21-for-24 on the season.
o Martin’s 21 field goals are tied with Will Snyderwine (2010) for the most in a single season by a Blue Devil.
• Martin converted four PATs and has made 144 consecutive, extending his school record.
o Martin has kicked 188 career extra points, the fourth most in ACC history.
o Martin has scored at least one point in 50 straight games.
• Martin increased his career point total to 407, the second most in ACC history.
• Martin upped his career field goal total to 73, the third most in ACC history.
• Martin lifted his season point total to 97, tied for the fourth most in a single season in Duke history.
• Redshirt senior Will Monday recorded 124 punting yards to increase his career total to 10,857, moving ahead of Jeff Walker (1981-83, 85/Virginia/10,815) and into eighth place on the ACC career punting yards chart.
DUKE TEAM NOTES
• Duke accumulated 485 yards of total offense and is averaging 431.36 yards per game, its highest average since a 459.92 mark in 1989.
• Duke’s offensive line surrendered eight tackles for lost yardage and five sacks.
o The unit entered the contest ranked fourth in the country with 3.80 TFL per game allowed and standing fifth with 0.90 sacks allowed per game.
• Duke turned the ball over three times, giving the team 10 turnovers in the last four contests after recording three straight turnover-free games.
• Duke tallied eight tackles for lost yardage, bringing its season total to 78, 17 more than the team had in the entire 2014 campaign.
• The Blue Devils snapped a two-game streak without a sack by dropping Virginia quarterbacks one time.
• The interception by Breon Borders in the second quarter was the first interception since Jeremy McDuffie’s pick against Miami.
o In the last seven games, Duke owns just three interceptions.
• The Blue Devils scored three points off turnovers, marking the first points off turnovers for the team since week six at Army West Point, when Duke tallied 21 such points.
• Virginia returned one punt for four yards. In the last six games, foes have tallied just four punt returns for three yards.
o In three games opponents have not returned a punt while in two other games the return yards have been negative.
