• The Virginia women’s basketball team (8-4) played its only road game in the month of December, falling 93-73 at No. 10 Ohio State (8-3) on Monday (Dec. 21) in Columbus, Ohio.
• Ohio State holds a 7-2 advantage in the all-time series.
• Virginia hit a season-high 11 three-pointers, going 5-of-5 from beyond the arc in the third quarter and 7-of-10 overall in the second half
• Virginia shot 35.7 percent (25-of-70) while Ohio State hit 56.1 percent (37-of-66), including shooting 61.8 percent in the second half (21-of-34)
• Faith Randolph led the team with 26 points, her first 20-point game of the season, matching her career high. Randolph was 9-of-18 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point range
• Randolph scored 14 points in the third quarter, hitting four threes and a jumper.
• Mikayla Venson had her fourth 20-point game of the season, scoring 24 points. Venson was 7-of-18 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range.
• Venson scored 10 points in the fourth quarter.
• Breyana Mason had a season-high six assists. She also scored six points.
• Lauren Moses had 10 rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
• Virginia started the game 0-of-7 from the field, helping Ohio State get out to a 9-0 lead.
• Virginia mounted a 7-0 run in the first quarter, scoring those seven points in a 52 second span.
• The Cavaliers were whistled for one foul in the first quarter while Ohio State did not commit a foul until the second quarter.
• Ohio State started the second quarter on an 11-3 run.
• Virginia hit its first field goal in the second quarter with 3:07 remaining, a three from Huland El that was followed 27 seconds later by a three from Venson.
• Virginia cut a 16-point deficit down to eight on a steal and fastbreak layup by Venson with 1:55 left in the half, but OSU finished the second quarter on a 6-0 run.
• Randolph hit three three-pointers in the first 1:43 of the second half to make it a five-point game, 45-40.
• Venson snapped a streak of 26-consecutive made free throws with a miss in the third quarter. She finished the game 6-of-8 from the line.
• After taking a short break for the holidays, UVA will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 28, hosting the two-day Cavalier Classic Tournament, presented by Holiday Inn University Area with Coppin State, Richmond and Lafayette competing in this year’s annual tournament.
