On the transition game
“That is what we talked about. We needed to get the ball and push it in transition, but we came out so flat. I was disappointed because we dug ourselves such a hole. We had such a great opportunity when we came back in the third quarter, but we just didn’t sustain it. That was the big difference.”
On what happened in the third quarter to get it to a three-point deficit
“That was our team right there in the third quarter, how we are. We came back and got ourselves into the game, but then made some not-so-smart decisions. Ohio State stretched back out the lead, taking advantage of those situations. I thought we could have come out with more punch. They punched first and we didn’t respond soon enough.”
On defending the Ohio State ball screens
“We were trying to switch on all of that hand-off action. We just didn’t have great help-side. Switching on them, you need to be able to switch up. We just kept switching flat deeper into the paint, which was not what we practiced. We let Ohio State run what they wanted to run and they took advantage of us.”
On what they can build from this game heading into the Cavalier Classic
“I think a quarter-and-a-half, the third quarter and start of the fourth, when we were staying aggressive, sat down and guarded, we were good. We didn’t do that for most of the game.”
