Team Notes
– Virginia has lost three of its last four games against Miami and fell to 6-8 all-time against the Hurricanes
– UVA has four 14-play scoring drives this season, including the 14-play, 73-yard scoring drive in the second quarter
– The Cavaliers’ 289 total yards marked the third time UVA has been held below 300 total yards this season
Player Notes
– RB Taquan Mizzell had three receptions for 27 yards to became the first player in ACC history with 1,500 career rushing and 1,500 career receiving yards (1,831 rushing yards, 1,517 receiving yards)
– Mizzell extended his reception streak to 43 games, tied for the third-longest in the nation heading into this weekend’s games
– Mizzell (116 all-purpose yards) became the seventh player in UVA history to amass 4,000 all-purpose yards (4,031)
– Mizzell (89 rushing yards) moved past Cedric Peerman (1,749 yards, 2005-08) into 21st on UVA’s career rushing list with 1,831 yards
– Mizzell moved past Terrence Wilkins (1,495 yards from 1995-98) into 13th on UVA’s career receiving list with 1,517 yards
– Mizzell tallied his single-season best fifth rushing touchdown
– QB Kurt Benkert tossed his 20th touchdown pass of the season, tying him with Aaron Brooks, Dan Ellis and Matt Johns for fourth-most in a season by a Cavalier.
– QB Matt Johns (3-for-7, 64 yards) moved past Dan Ellis into 10th on UVA’s career passing list with 3,996 yards

– Junior kicker Michael Badgley, junior defensive lineman Trent Harris, junior quarterback Brad Kaaya and sophomore running
back Mark Walton represented the Hurricanes during the coin toss against Virginia.
– Miami moved to 18-1 since 2011 when forcing three-or-more turnovers.
– Miami’s 222 rushing yards are a season-high in ACC play.
– Miami outgained Virginia 450-289 in total yards, including 244-170 in total yards during the first half.
– Miami and Virginia were tied 7-7 in the first quarter. The Hurricanes have outscored their opponents 72-44 in the first
quarter this season.
– The Hurricanes did not allow a sack in the first half.
– The Hurricanes forced four turnovers in the second half and finished the game with five saves and nine tackles for loss.
OFFENSIVE INDIVIDUAL NOTES
– Junior quarterback Brad Kaaya finished the first half by going 8-of-19 with 123 yards and one touchdown. He finished the
game with 228 yards passing and two touchdowns.
– Kaaya has thrown for 200-or-more yards for the 27th time in his career.
– With his 44-yard pass to Malcolm Lewis in the second quarter, Kaaya passed Jacory Harris for second on the Miami career
passing yards list.
– Kaaya’s second-quarter touchdown pass to David Njoku marked the 31st time in which he has thrown at least one
touchdown pass in a game.
– Kaaya currently has 61 career touchdown passes.
– Njoku has now caught a touchdown pass in three straight games.
– Njoku led the Hurricanes in the first half with two receptions and finished the game with three catches for 16 yards and a
touchdown.
– Sophomore wide receiver Ahmmon Richards led the Canes with three catches for 100 yards, including a 77-yard
touchdown. Richards reached 100 yards receiving for the second straight game and third time this season.
– Richards now has 12 receptions of 20 or more yards during the 2016 season.
– Senior wide receiver Stacy Coley has caught a pass in 19 straight games , finishing with two catches for 39 yards.
– Sophomore running back Mark Walton led the Hurricanes with 111 yards rushing and touchdown on 16 carries, surpassing
100 yards rushing for the fifth time this season.
– Junior running back Joe Yearby rushed for his seventh TD of the season. He had 53 yards on nine carries.
– Senior offensive lineman Danny Isidora got the start at right guard to increase his consecutive start streak to a team-best
36 games.
– Fellow offensive linemen Trevor Darling and Nick Linder both had their consecutive start streak snapped at 27 and 22
games, respectively.
– Sophomore offensive lineman Tyler Gauthier made his first career start.
DEFENSIVE INDIVIDUAL NOTES
– Freshman Joe Jackson forced his first career fumble.
– Senior Corn Elder tallied his first career forced fumble in the third quarter.
– Jackson, Elder, junior Trent Harris and sophomore Darrion Owens each recovered a fumble.
– Senior Jamal Carter Sr. led the Hurricanes with nine tackles (five solo).
– Freshman Malek Young made his first career start at cornerback.
– Senior Rayshawn Jenkins logged his 31st career start. His 31 career starts are the most on the Miami defensive unit.
– Jenkins finished with six tackles (five solo), 1.5 TFL and collected his first career solo sack in the first quarter.
SPECIAL TEAMS INDIVIDUAL NOTES
– Junior kicker Michael Badgley connected on 40-yard field goal in the first half and hit a 44-yard attempt in the second half.
– Badgley a is a perfect 19-of-19 in field goal attempts from in-between 40-49 yards during his UM career.
– Senior punter Justin Vogel had just two punts for 68 yards.
