CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Members of the Virginia wrestling program will return to competition this weekend, traveling to compete at the Mat Town Open hosted by Lock haven on Sunday (Nov. 27). Competition begins at 9:30 a.m.
Results will be posted at the end of the day once available from the host institution.
It’s the second open tournament of the season for Virginia who opened the year at the Clarion Open. Four wrestlers claimed championships at that season-opening tournament, while 14 of the 21 wrestlers placed in the event.

Last Time At The Mat Town Open
Virginia had two wrestlers claim championships at the 2015 edition of the Mat Town Open with Patrick Gillen and Joe Martinez winning at 125 pounds and heavyweight. Five other wrestlers placed at the event, with Yankowich (Norristown, Pa.), who placed second, the only one returning to the event this season.
Up Next For The Cavaliers
The Cavaliers will hit the road for a pair of dual meets at Gardner-Webb and No. 25 Chattanooga. Virginia will face Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. The weekend competition continues at nationally-ranked Chattanooga on Sunday, Dec. 4, with the dual set to begin at 1 p.m.
