CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s lacrosse team hosted the national team from Wales on Tuesday in a scrimmage at Klöckner Stadium.
The Cavaliers scored 22 goals while Wales netted six. Sophomore Avery Shoemaker (Wyndmoor, Pa.) led all scorers with four goals. Ros Lloyd-Rout scored two for Wales.
“It was really a great opportunity for us to come out today to be able to play against a Wales National Team,” said Virginia head coach Julie Myers. “We didn’t really know what to expect, but we are really glad that we had the opportunity to play with full uniforms, officials, and some fans to take a step forward and get better today. And I think we did that.”
The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, February 22 when they play at Richmond.
