Hoos in Fifth at Koch Invitational After 36 Holes

Gastonia, N.C. – The No. 13 Virginia men’s golf team is tied for fifth after the first two rounds of play at the Gary Koch Invitational in Gastonia, N.C. The Cavaliers posted rounds of 290 and 294 to finish the first day of play at 8-over 584. Auburn leads the field at 559.
UVA was led by sophomore Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.), who stands 17th at even par 144. Senior Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.) is in 22nd place at 145. Senior Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) is 34th at 147. Sophomore Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) are tied for 53rd at 151.
Freshman Luke Schaap (Potomac, Md.), who is playing as an individual, is in 47th place at 150.
Jacksonville State’s Jamie Mist leads the field at 8-under 136.
The final round of the event will be played Tuesday. This is UVA’s final regular-season tournament.
