CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior goalkeeper Carrera Lucas (Brooklandville, Md.) was named the co-ACC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday (Oct. 30) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Lucas matched her season-high with nine saves as the 20th-ranked Cavaliers closed out their regular season with a 3-2 win at William & Mary on Sunday. The double-overtime victory enabled Virginia to close out the season with three straight wins.
Lucas currently ranks third in the nation with a .796 save percentage and also leads the conference in saves per game at 5.38.
Louisville’s Ayeisha McFerran was named co-Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the Cardinal’s 3-1 victory over Kent State.
This is the second-straight Defensive Player of the Week award for Lucas and is the fourth overall of her career.
