No. 7 Cavaliers Race to Perfect Weekend at Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The No. 7 Virginia rowing team capped a perfect weekend by winning all five of its races Sunday (March 14) at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on Melton Hill Lake.
The Cavaliers topped Minnesota and Clemson in five events, and captured all 15 of their races in the two-day regatta.
“First of all, we are so grateful to be racing,” Virginia head coach Kevin Sauer said. “Second, our team showed incredible support and encouragement of each other. Third, we raced really well and I’m very proud of our team and how they have and are navigating everything. Many thanks to the University of Louisville and Oak Ridge Rowing Association for creating a great racing experience, and to all the teams here competing.”
On Sunday, UVA posted wins in the Varsity Eight (6:19.859), Varsity Four (7:10.632), Third Varsity Eight (6:37.890), Second Varsity Eight (6:29.500) and Second Varsity Four (7:13.750).
The Cavaliers return to action at the UVA Invite on March 26-27 at Rivanna Reservoir in Earlysville, Va.
