Virginia Falls 3-2 in Overtime at No. 13 Duke
DURHAM, N.C. – Virginia men’s soccer (6-8-3, 2-5-1 ACC) scored two goals in the second half to tie the game and send it to overtime, but No. 13 Duke (11-3-1, 5-2-1 ACC) scored in the 97th minute to win 3-2 on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duke opened the scoring with a goal at the 22:55 mark.
- The Blue Devils led 6-3 in shots in the first half, but both teams had two shots on goal.
- Duke added to its lead with a score in the 62nd minute.
- Virginia cut the lead in half in the 68th minute. Daniel Wright won the ball in the middle of the field and played it ahead for Leo Afonso, who broke away and easily put the shot away.

- Will Citron scored the equalizer for the second time in three games. Kaya Ignacio dished it to Afonso, who one-touched it across to a wide-open Citron for the score.

- Virginia put pressure on the Duke defense early in the overtime period but two shots were off target.
- Duke scored off a corner kick to take the win.
NOTABLES
- It was Afonso’s eighth goal of the season and second assist.
- Wright recorded his second assist of the year.
- Citron’s goal was his second of the season, and third of his career.
- Goalkeeper Holden Brown finished with five saves.
