CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Graduate student Devin Darrington was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team on Thursday (Nov. 18). First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. All-America selections will be announced in mid-December.

Darrington transferred from Harvard after earning his undergraduate degree in Government this past May. At Virginia he’s pursuing his master’s degree in Leadership and Public Policy. Darrington has seen action in all 10 games this season. He has accumulated 225 yards on the ground and is averaging a team-best, 8.7 yards per carry. He owns UVA’s longest rush from scrimmage this season, a 49-yard touchdown run at BYU on Oct. 30.

District 3 honorees include student-athletes from schools in Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee. The 2021 Academic All-District Football Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
