Virginia Set for ACC Championships Thursday
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s men’s and women’s track and field teams are set to compete in the ACC Indoor Championships hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. from Feb. 24-26. A total of 30 men and 28 women will represent the Hoos in the competition.
Multi events will open competition on Thursday (Feb. 24) at 11 a.m. with the distance medley relays kicking off the track events at 6 p.m. Competition will resume on Friday (Feb. 25) beginning with the heptathlon at 10 a.m. and ending with the men’s and women’s 5k at 6:55 p.m. The meet will resume on Saturday (Feb.26) at 12 p.m. with men’s shot put and will end with the 4x400m relays. An award ceremony will be held following the completion of the day’s events.

HOO TO WATCH:
First year Mia Barnett enters the competition as the top-seeded mile runner on the women’s side. Her seed time of 4:35.09 stands as a Virginia freshman record and ranks fourth on Virginia’s all-time indoor performance list.
Reigning indoor triple jump champion Owayne Owens will compete for the Hoos as the top-seed in the competition. Owens set a personal best mark this season at 16.60m (54’5.5”) in the competition this season and ranks third in the nation.
Jada Seaman will feature in three individual events for the Cavaliers including the 60-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and the long jump. Seaman enters each competition seeded in the top-eight for the Wahoos. She is seeded fourth in the 60m (7.39), fifth in the long jump (6.17m) and eighth in the 200m (23.82).
Virginia runners make up five of the top-ten seeds in the mile run. Ka’eo Kruse (4:01.56) leads the Cavaliers with the fourth seed followed by Wes Porter (4:01.82) as the fifth. Yasin Sado (4:02.70) is seeded seventh while Nathan Mountain (4:03.27) and Jackson Braddock (4:03.76) are seeded ninth and tenth respectively.
The final standings of the meet will determine who is awarded a point between Virginia and Virginia Tech in the Smithfield Commonwealth Clash.
